Fantasy has always been the core of his design aesthetic. Amit Aggarwal’s bride is adventurous and feminine. She understands the tradition of a wedding but looks forward to starting a new phase with enthusiasm and hope. True to his style, his collection at Lakme Fashion Week infused femininity with structure.
Amit’s phalanx of models whipped up a frenzy on the stage with creations which saw surreal moulding, metallic and magic. Marrying the rigid structures with fragile and luscious transparency, each garment was poetry in motion.
Concept saris and sari gowns were fluted, pleated and draped. Lace, silk fringes, pearls with luxe fabrics like tulle, velvet, satin faced georgette along with cut metallic strips wreaked a multi-sensory assault. Structured bustiers with metallic mesh detailing complemented the lxue and luscious saris beautifully. Models wore gold mohawk which added another element of the drama to the ensembles.
Saris in a palette of emerald green, gold, maroon, midnight blue and grey would be any any bride’s fantasy who has a strong sense of individuality and who wants to stand out at every occasion no matter what!
Towards the end, the show saw the emergence of a panoply of frothy, multi-tiered gown in a palette in gold and black which set the ramp ablaze.
A refreshing collection in a sea of anarakalis and lehengas!
